ARC, Agents of Discovery and NPS Help Kids Get Outdoors on the National Mall

Fifth graders from Washington, D.C.’s School-Within-School joined the American Recreation Coalition (ARC), Agents of Discovery and the National Park Service (NPS) on the National Mall November 7 for the launch of the newest Agents of Discovery mission site! The augmented reality mobile game encourages players to explore real-life sites on the National Mall while enjoying healthy, active fun outdoors. The game features “mission sites” with interactive quizzes along the way.

NPS will still offer traditional pen-and-paper Junior Ranger programs, but apps like Agents of Discovery are helping NPS and other federal agencies embrace technology to encourage a younger, more technologically-savvy audience to explore their public lands and waters.

Agents of Discovery and ARC have also partnered with the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) to help bring the free mobile game to more than 60 National Forest sites across the country.
