Great Outdoors Month® Hits Halfway Mark at Full Speed!

Great Outdoors Month® Hits Halfway Mark at Full Speed!

We’re officially halfway through Great Outdoors Month®! For the 15th year, the President has declared June as Great Outdoors Month®, with President Trump becoming the third president to do so. He is joined by all 50 governors in celebrating the healthful and economic benefits of active fun on America’s lands and waters. View and download the proclamations at greatoutdoorsmonth.org/proclamations. President Trump even retweeted a message from Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke celebrating the Presidential Proclamation!

Recreation leaders gathered for Partners Outdoors 2017 set the stage for all the dynamic activities to come with exciting discussions about the future of recreation. See the great panels and presentations, as well as Secretary Zinke’s special video message to participants, at funoutdoors.com/PO2017. Action has spread across the country as more than a million people have taken part in Great Outdoors Month® events hosted by the National Park Trust (Kids to Parks™ Day), American Hiking Society (National Trails Day®), Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation (National Fishing and Boating Week), the Association of Marina Industries and Discover Boating (National Marina Days), American Recreation Coalition (National Get Outdoors Day) and more!

And the fun isn’t done! Service and conservation corps volunteers gathering in Washington, D.C. from across the country will help restore parts of the National Mall, Rock Creek Park, Theodore Roosevelt Island and more during The Corps Network’s National Great Outdoors Day of Service. The National Wildlife Federation will encourage all Americans to get outdoors and camp as they kick off the Great American Campout. And later this summer, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will highlight our national marine sanctuaries as iconic recreation destinations during the Get Into Your Sanctuary celebration in August. And if you can’t make it to one of these fantastic events, you can celebrate Great Outdoors Month® by just getting outside and having fun!
