ARC President Receives Spirit of Take Pride Award

Derrick Crandall Receives Spirit of Take Pride Award

On September 21, 2004, the Take Pride in America program presented 25 awards to individuals and groups in 14 states who together contributed more than 150,000 hours of community service on local, state and federal lands in 2003 alone. Derrick Crandall, President of the American Recreation Coalition, was presented the first Spirit of Take Pride Award during the Take Pride in America 2004 National Awards Ceremony in Washington, DC. The award honors Mr. Crandall for his extraordinary efforts in promoting the Take Pride program and its message of public-land stewardship and volunteerism across the country. Those efforts have included recruiting new partners, raising funds and finding opportunities to spread the word about Take Pride. He has been the inspiration behind several Take Pride events over the past year, including the very successful Southern California volunteer pledge drive. The Spirit of Take Pride award is a special award presented by the program’s executive director only in those years when an individual’s efforts on behalf of Take Pride in America merit special recognition.
